COSRX products are already available at Watsons in Singapore but I still did pick up two of their hero products when shopping at Olive Young in Seoul. Another place in Korea in which you can get your hands on COSRX products is at ALAND.
Just a short and quick introduction on the Korean skincare brand, COSRX = COS + RX where COS stands for Cosmetics and RX stands for Prescription. They offer a number of solutions for various skin problems through their products.
I am particularly interested in a beauty brand when they have a range of products that’s good and helpful for acne problem or sensitive skin in which I have.
COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser
The first of the COSRX products is the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. It is formulated with purifying botanical ingredients, has a mildly acidic and low pH 5.0 ~ 6.0 formula that helps maintain skin’s optimal and natural pH level. It works to soothe, refresh, soften & refine the skin without the stripping feeling, controls oily skin and shrinks pore size.
As its name suggests, the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is recommended to be used in the mornings. I’m not sure about other people, but for me, I use two different facial cleansers almost every day.
One which is stronger when I need more help cleansing my face after I’ve removed my make up or cleaning the dirt and pollution that has been accumulated from being outdoors. And one which is milder for in the mornings, I feel that you don’t have to use such a strong cleanser if you’ve been indoors and since the internal environment is cleaner.
The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is a transparent gel that foams up quite a bit. I could recognize the strong scent of tea tree straight away the first time I started using it.
It’s not surprising for the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser to have tea tree oil as one of its ingredients. Tea tree oil is known for having antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which is especially good for acne prone skin.
Directions
1) Gently massage a small amount, a size lesser than a 10 cents coin of the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser on wet skin until it foams.
2) Rinse with tepid water.
3) Pat your face dry and continue with your next skincare steps.
I don’t have much to complain about this COSRX product, I quite like it and would definitely buy it again to use. The only bad thing I want to mention is that I don’t know, maybe it was just this particular one I got. The tube packaging started leaking from the mouth after I’ve opened it for the first time, even after I’ve closed the lid properly.
The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser comes in 150ml and you can use it for quite a while, maybe months but because it leaked, I’ve already wasted like 1/3 of it and it’s still leaking. I can’t put it upright and have to place it upside down. 🙁
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch
The next of the COSRX products is the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch. I never thought of getting it because the truth is, most acne patches don’t really work for me. But it caught my eye while I was queuing to pay for the items I wanted to get at Olive Young, you see what they did there, tempting me.
The COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch is an A.D.F hydrocolloid dressing that intensively extracts and absorbs impurities & oil. It acts as a cover protecting the wounded or troubled area against bacteria and from getting worse. It being non-drying also maintains humidity of skin to prevent further breakouts.
A pack of the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch consists of 24 patches of 3 different sizes: Small 10 x 7mm, Medium 5 x 10mm & Large 9 x 12mm. I like that it comes in a re-sealable pack and sterilized double packaging to keep it sanitary and hygienic.
Directions
1) Before using the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch, clean and dry your face & hands thoroughly.
2) Peel back an appropriate sized patch and stick it over a blemish making sure it is completely covered.
3) Replace the patch with a new one when it turns white and has absorbed the pus & impurities.
It is recommended to use the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch at night as it helps with quick acne healing overnight. I feel that your skin should be able to breathe at night so I prefer using it in the day instead to create a barrier guarding off external irritants.
Each COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch is quite thin which can naturally cover blemishes during the daytime. But I think the COSRX Clear Fit Master Patch might be an even better option because it is even thinner and works well if you need to put make up over it.
My final verdict for the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch is, to be honest, I’m not sure. I have mixed feelings about this COSRX product because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Firstly, it sticks quite well on your skin and doesn’t fall off easily. It does work well as a protective cover and my pimples seem controlled and won’t get inflamed further when I use it. But sometimes it successfully extracts and absorbs the pus & impurities from my pimples, sometimes it doesn’t.
Perhaps I’ll get and try the COSRX Clear Fit Master Patch the next time. Other COSRX products I’m interested to try are from their AC Collection like the COSRX AC Collection Blemish Spot Clearing Serum & Calming Foam Cleanser.
