Mom’s Touch Singapore

Mom’s Touch Singapore

Let’s continue where I left off before I went for my Korea trip. I initially wanted to get this Mom’s Touch Singapore article up before I left for Korea, but I really didn’t have the time because I had to prepare for the trip. So now that I’m back, here it is…

Korean food lovers, if you still haven’t heard, Mom’s Touch Chicken & Burger from Korea has opened its first outlet in Singapore at Paya Lebar Quarter. Mom’s Touch Singapore is brought to you by No Signboard Holdings, the group behind F&B brands like No Signboard Seafood, Little Sheep Hot Pot, Hawker Asian Burger & Bun and Draft Denmark.

Established and based in South Korea since 2004 with over 1,200 chain outlets and also having a presence in major cities in the USA, Taiwan and Vietnam, Mom’s Touch is famous for their Korean fried chicken & burgers.

Mom’s Touch Singapore Burgers
The Mom’s Thigh Burger is their signature burger with 183 million of it sold worldwide and counting.

Its brand name comes from the simple thought of preparing its food for their customers, the very heart-warming way a mother prepares a meal for her family. The meals are prepared with sincerity and warmth, ensuring quality and freshness in their food offerings.

Mom’s Touch Singapore Fried Chicken

The Mom’s Touch Singapore outlet features its famous hand-battered and hand-breaded chicken & burgers marinated with their very own special blend of seasoning for a fuller, tender and juicier taste.

I was there on their opening day on 30 August 2019 for an invited media food tasting but had to leave disappointed because there was such a long queue from the public and they were barely coping with the many orders on that day.

Singaporeans love queuing for new things in town, sometimes they don’t even know what they’re queuing for or getting themselves into. I had to return another day to try out the food.

Mom’s Touch Singapore - Mom's Spicy Sauce Chicken
Mom’s Spicy Sauce Chicken

I tried the Mom’s Spicy Sauce Chicken, some parts of the chicken meat was tender and some parts were hard, it wasn’t consistent. The spicy sauce actually kind of tasted like the small packets of tapioca chips coated with sweet & sticky chilli we ate when we were young, those you can get from a mama shop. Not sure if you know what I am referring to.

It can be quite a mess eating with your bare hands because the spicy sauce gets dripped everywhere. I actually would suggest they at least provide plastic cutleries or disposable gloves for their customers to eat the chicken.

Mom’s Touch Singapore - Cheese Cajun Fries
Cheese Cajun Fries

For the Cajun Fries, the fries were meaty and the cheese tasted kind of like the liquid cheese that comes with nachos you have when you watch a movie in the cinema. It’s alright but the taste can get gelat after some time.

Mom’s Touch Singapore - Citrus Yuzu Orange Ade

And then, I tried the Citrus Yuzu Orange Ade for my drink that makes up a combo meal. It’s just gassy soda, the only small surprise was the many globules of flavours bursting in your mouth when you drink it.

Other beverages available in the menu.

The chicken & burgers at Mom’s Touch Singapore are priced at $5.70 to $7 for a la carte and within $10 for its combo meal.

To be honest, I wasn’t very pleased with the whole meal. I have pretty high standards for Korean food or rather, I haven’t really eaten something Korean that disappointed me. Plus, fried chicken is like a stable for Koreans, walk into any Korean restaurants selling it, they can’t really go wrong.

I’ve not really tried the Mom’s Touch Chicken & Burger in Korea, so I can’t really make a comparison with the one in Singapore but I felt that Mom’s Touch Singapore can do better. Maybe because they are new here, they are still not used to coping well and offering what they are good at to us.

Mom’s Touch Singapore Desserts
The desserts look more promising, maybe I’ll give them a try next time.

Though Mom’s Touch Singapore doesn’t have pork or lard in their cooking process, they are not halal but they are in the midst of applying for it.
